Panda Bear at FYF 201 … Did you see this?

In case you were one of the many who snatched the neon iPhone case at FYF 2010, well did you even stop and think for a minute that there would be this awesome cute little catalogue of dialogue and the art of Luke McGarry’s sketches for artists such as: Panda Bear, Local Natives and Ted Leo? Did you?

Well now that I have completed that extremely run on sentence, I hope you catch my drift. I am about to present to you in so little words and a few cute pictures - the preview display of L.A. Record’s amazing presentation of FYF 2010.

FYF Fest. Saturday Sept. 4th Brought to by L.A. Record

I got my hands on one of these amazing mini-zines, because this drunk girl at a party was like “oh this guy I met last weekend invited me to the fest, omgawsh it was so fun, we got so drunk, now he is outside and just talking to other girls, so I am just sitting here pretending to be enjoying this catalog”  - yeah, that chick gave it to me.

the Cults:

Local Natives:

always fabulous and familiar band … Local Natives, this time there were some electric guitar riffs that even got those not on double shots off their feet and dancing in the heat of the day.

Screaming Females:

The Rapture:

And give it up for the one, the only - Ted Leo:

And now I would like the designer of the map to please stand up.

A, B, C do not match up in anyway with Sequoia Stage, Redwood Stage and Oak Stage. It’s cool I kept on moving …

and then make me smile all over again for my favorite term of endearment ever “!!!”

!!!

last thing to say …

L.A. Record you should have the FYF listed on the homepage of your site or live reviews and potentially the digital version of your mini-zine drawings done by Luke McGarry. At LEAST 24 hours after the festival is over.

Not “the” List of 2008

This is not “THE” list of 2008, but my brain is very much in the mood to spit out some 2008 talk, so here is a ramble of information (for me). If you can answer in the format of my linguistics, then by all means let me know ‘sup!

Album that I dug a lot more then the previous album from the same artist: ‘Consolers Of The Lonely’ - The Raconteurs

Album that I enjoyed way more then this artist’s previous release: ‘Attack and Release’ - The Black Keys

Album I was obsessed with in 2007 and regretably didnt listen to enough in 2008: ‘Asleep at Heaven’s Gate’ - Rogue Wave

Favorite Electronic Song of 2008: ‘Quiet Dawn’ (Bonobo Remix) - Nostalgia 77

Favorite Vinyl Artwork (even though the album does not live up to it’s cover):

‘Shots’ - Ladyhawk

Hercules & Love Affair -Hercules & Love Affair

Favorite Tour Poster: Feist & Sharon Jones & The Dap Kings

Album name that I identified most with, but didn’t appreciate the music: ‘Get Awkward’ - Be Your Own Pet

Favorite Band to See Live (and the year is not even over …): Dr. Dog

Favorite Soundtracks:

‘There Will Be Blood’ -Jonny Greenwood

‘American Teen’ (minus track 2)

Band that straight pisses me off, but I swear I gave a chance to: The Ting Tings

Music I hope blows up in the clubs, just see a dance other then the Soulja Boy: ‘Black Diamond’ - Buraka Som Sistema

If I was stranded on a desert island and could only have albums from 2008, these full albums would for-sure all be in full on my mixtape:

‘There Will Be Blood’ - Jonny Greenwood

‘Feed the Animals’ - Girl Talk

‘Skeletal Lamping’ - Of Montreal

‘Here’s To Special Treatment’ - Conor Oberst

‘LP/3’ - Ratatat

Fleet Foxes *Self Titled*- Fleet Foxes

‘Only By the Knight’ - Kings of Leon

‘Alpinisms’ - School of Seven Bells

‘Oracular Spectacular’ - MGMT
